Kalma Ryżowy was born on December 5th 1867 in Żuromin. His birth was reported by his father Jankief Lajb Ryżowy and two other witnesses on January 17th 1868. As you can see the names are different: Jankief Lajb not Jakub Mendel. He was 30 years old laborer living in Żuromin. Kalma’s mother was 28 years old Sura nee Widodroż, so we can be sure that we have the right persons here. At the end we see that the father and two witnesses were illiterate so there were no signatures, except from the mayor of Żuromin.
Kalma Ryzowy 1868 – 1927
Kalma the second child of Mendel and Sura married Laja (Leah) and came to London, England to join his younger brother Berek in the early 20th Century. Kalma and Leah had four children, the first three of whom were most likely born in Poland as there are no birth records in the UK. Kalma was to die in 1927.
